Child and vulnerable adult protection policy
Starfish has a duty of care to safeguard from harm all members (children and adults with learning difficulties) and volunteers below the age of 18 (children) who are involved with the club. ALL have a right to protection regardless of age, gender, race, religion, sexual identity and disability. Starfish will adhere to the ASA Child protection guidelines wherever appropriate including in Swimming Procedures, Anti-bullying and Personal data protection relating to the use of photographs and video film taken with mobile phones or other recording equipment during Starfish sessions and events and on the Starfish website.
The Starfish's Policies and Rules aim to promote good practice:
- Providing members and children with appropriate safety and protection whilst in the care of Starfish
- Allowing all staff and volunteers to make informed responses to specific member and child protection issues
- By following the ASA's policies

- The members and childrens welfare is the first consideration
- All members and children have a right to be protected from abuse irrespective of age, gender, race, religion, sexual identity or disability
- Members and children should be treated with respect, dignity and integrity
